3.8 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles San Francisco Bay Area, Pacifica

The USGS is reporting that the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically the Pacifica area, experienced a 3.8 magnitude earthquake today – on the anniversary of the devastating 1906 earthquake that almost destroyed San Francisco.

This was considered to be a strike-slip earthquake, characteristic of the San Andreas fault, along which San Francisco lies.
