Japan Tsunami Video

“By watching this Japan Tsunami video you will definitely get a feeling that nothing is above the nature. If nature decides to show its fury, then no army or government can stop it.

Tsunami Video

A few lucky ones who are living in high rise building can only watch this approaching Tsunami wave with dismay and astonishment.

This Tsunami video shows the violet nature of the Tsunami – most often caused by earthquakes.

When you see a approaching Tsunami from a distance, there are no signs of huge waves and high tides. But when it hits the coast, then only one can realize the impact of the powerful Tsunami waves.

The video shows the Tsunami sweeping away thousands of cars and uprooting many houses in its path of destruction. You can also see smoke coming out from a power plant in the initial section of this video.

The cars and houses and other structures are being washed away in a matter of few seconds and one could also hear the warning sound of siren indicating the Tsunami is about to hit the coast.

We can only hope that the people heard the sirens and were able to flee to safety.”

Nuclear Power Plant Map with Google Earth

“Nuclear power is considered by many to be the power of the future.

Nuclear Power Plants

The vision behind nuclear power plants is to meet the exponentially increasing power demand of the world by generating nuclear power – considered to be relatively safe when setup and maintained properly.

You can find the various nuclear power plants locations in different parts of the world by using the Google Earth services.

Google Earth has essentially created a map of nuclear power plants, provided you know their names or their geographical locations, or you can just browse around to find nuclear plants in your area

This nuclear power plant map could be a great help to anyone studying about nuclear energy or for people who just want to know if there are any nuclear power plants located near them or their home.

Recently, Japan was hit by a massive earthquake, which caused a tsunami and it resulted in major nuclear radiation problems that have made almost every country to reevaluate the safety of their nuclear energy program to make sure that no major damage are done because of accidental radiation leak from the power plants – and that nuclear power remains to be a safe and viable energy source.”

Radiation Found From The West Coast to the East Coast of the United States

“As feared by many geologists and other scientists and observers, the impact of Japanese Tsunami and the radiation leaks from the Fukushima nuclear power reactor is now being felt in various parts of United States. From California on the west coast to Massachusetts on the east coast there have been traces of radiation found either in the air or the water.

Radiation Found

There have been reports from Massachusetts stating that the light rains received in the area contained small amounts of radioiodine-131. This radioactive substance, though present in small levels, is a cause for concern.

Massachussets Public Health Department has come out with a statement saying that the drinking water is absolutely safe to consume. They are closely monitoring the situation.

Similarly there have been tests conducted on air samples in California and the results also confirms the presence of small amounts of radioactive substances in the air sample.

Government officials have attributed these negligible levels of radiation to the meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear reactor in Japan.”

Radnet Radiation Monitoring Network

“RadNet is a network of radiation monitors installed in the United States and maintained by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which monitors the levels of radiation in the air.

The RadNet radiation monitoring network was little known until recently, but has become a widely discussed topic in the United States and across the globe after the earthquake and tsunami wreaked havoc in Japan and caused the release of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plan.

It is believed that the radiation from Japan was released in dangerous levels and it could soon become a potential health problem for Americans, if not countered well in time – as radiation from Japan has already reached the United States.

Radnet

The EPA says that its RadNet system is in place, functioning properly, and is fully capable of detecting even a minute change in the radiation levels. Current radiation levels are listed as being normal, but RadNet will detect increases in radiation levels to warn if they are going to drift towards the dangerous levels.

EPA uses this data to keep a close check on the radiation levels in the environment, and maintain a historical record of radiation levels over time. You can download the RadNet data through internet as well.”

Radiation Tests in NC Look For Fallout From Japan Reactors

“Radiation tests in Japan are detecting elevated levels of radiation due to the recent nuclear crisis, and now radiation tests are picking up elevated radiation levels around the world as well.

radiation tests

Japan is considered to be one of the most technically advanced countries of the world, and Japan has wholeheartedly embraced nuclear power as a source of domestic energy production.

However, the Japan Earthquake and Japan Tsunami, and the nuclear meltdown that followed at the Fukushima nuclear power plant has led Japan, and the entire world towards a nuclear radiation crisis.

This crisis is not limited to Japan only; it has threatened other countries too with the radiation that has leaked from the damaged nuclear reactors.

States across the U.S. have detected elevated radiation and are concerned about possible dangers, so are stepping up their radiation test efforts. For example, North Carolina has decided to conduct frequent radiation tests to keep a check on the radiation levels in the air.

Experts believe that the Japan situation is going to create huge problems for Japan and the nuclear radiation must be closely monitored to determine whether it will be a significant threat to other parts of the world.”

Earthquake Prediction Techniques Challenged in Japan

“Now that we have the benefit of hindsight, many scientists and geophysicists in Japan are now engaged in an argument about whether the earthquake prediction systems followed in Japan are dependable and have a level of acceptable accuracy.

earthquake prediction

Robert Geller, a professor of geophysics at the University of Tokyo says that he has facts to back up his claim that it is just not possible to accurately predict earthquakes.

Mr. Geller’s main support for his view lies with the fact that the recent earthquakes struck in areas where the Japanese earthquake prediction had modeled that there was only a 0.01% (very small) probability of an earthquake striking.

This is the same region, which was hit by that massive 9 magnitude Earthquake on March 11th 2011.

Citing this, Robert Geller has asked the Japanese Government to convey to the public that it’s not possible to predict the Earthquakes.

In addition to Mr. Geller’s findings, there is clear dissension in the academic and Japanese earthquake predicting community. It should be noted that a 1979 law requires the Japan Meteorologial Agency to monitor Japan and the surrounding offshore areas for any earthquake activity, which is then reported to a panel of experts.

Their claim is that the current predicting system has been designed to work only for the region Southwest of Tokyo.”

Radiation Map of Geiger Counter Readings from Japan

“There has been a worldwide concern that the Japanese government is not revealing the complete facts regarding the nuclear catastrophe the country is facing because of the Fukushima nuclear reactor meltdown.

Radiation Map

But the technology being easily accessible nowadays, some groups in Japan have started taking matters into their own hands and tracking the radiation in real time by making their own 3D radiation maps using the online app Google Earth.

These radiation maps display the levels of Geiger counter readings, a measure of the radioactivity present in the atmosphere, or in certain objects like water, dirt, or air particles.

There is a community called Pachube which has set up real time monitoring tools and software applications (at http://community.pachube.com/node/611 ) to track the radioactivity across Japan using crowdsourced data from individuals collecting their own geiger counter readings.”

How much of a radiation dose do I get from….?

After Japan was hit by a massive earth quake and their nuclear power plants in shambles, the rest of the world has nothing to do but sit and wait.
What will the effects on the world be?
Radiation Dose
Will I get an extra dose of radiation here in the US thanks to the leaks?
We are so often left to the mercy of the media!
This chart, it really gives us a realistic look at the simple sources of radiation around us and how much we are actually exposed to on a daily basis.
I was shocked to see how much of a radiation dose a woman gets from a mammogram and yet it is a part of routine health care as we age.

Radiation Levels in United States

“Japan witnessed one of the most devastating Tsunami attacks of human history and if only it would have stopped there, it would have been nice.
However, the nuclear crisis that has raised the radiation levels to fatal extents is creating further problems for the country and the global community as well.
radiation levels
In Japan, the nuclear radiation levels have raised eyebrows, however in USA some people believe that the EPA officials are hiding this information from people regarding the radiation levels in Oregon, California and other cities of US.
People need to know about the potential threats they are subjected to because EPA might be working on reducing the radiation levels but if they are unable to do this, or something like Japan happens, panic is bound to rise.”

Radiation Monitors – Are They Accurate?

“The Environment Protection Agency has reported that they are “”just maintaining”" their radiation monitors installed at California, Oregon and Washington, so that they keep a check on the radiations coming from the Japanese reactors that were damaged by the earthquake and tsunami.

Although the EPA states that it is just a normal routine check, critics have raised two important questions at this whole incidence.

Radiation coming from Japan is not normal, and they have said and they have also raised a question about the effectiveness of radiation monitors to detect the exact levels of the radioactive particles coming from Japan.

These are serious questions posed by the critics and even if one percent of it is true, this issue must be handled with utmost care because radiations do not affect few people, it affects generations.”
